The University of Hamburg will offer merit scholarships in 2025 to support outstanding international students and doctoral researchers across all disciplines and degree levels to Study in Germany. These scholarships allow recipients to focus on their studies and hone their skills without financial worries.

The following subjects are available to study under this scholarship program.

Benefits for the University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship:
- You can receive a monthly stipend of up to €930.
- Doctoral researchers may be eligible for a higher stipend of €1,200 per month (limited availability, awarded to 2-3 recipients per round).
- Scholarships are awarded for 2 semesters (1 year) with the possibility of reapplication.
- In exceptional cases, the funding period may be extended to 3 years.
Important Note:
Students who meet the requirements of Section 8 of the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) are not eligible for this scholarship program.

Eligible Nationalities for the University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship:
This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria for the University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship:
- You must be an international student (not holding German citizenship).
- You must be enrolled in your program at Universität Hamburg for at least:
- 2 semesters for most programs
- 1 semester for students in 2-year Master's programs and doctoral researchers
- You cannot be eligible for the federal student loan scheme in Germany.
